The Nordic Endeavour
Some journeys change your direction. This one changes everything.
The Journey
Next year, I will be part of a small team that will take on a bold and unforgiving challenge - to row the entire length of Norway in a compact 8m x 1.5m ocean rowing boat. Starting at the remote Russian border in the far north, we will navigate southward through nearly 3,000 kilometres of rugged coastline, finishing their journey in Oslo after passing the Swedish border.
Over the course of 6 to 8 weeks, this expedition will take us through four powerful seas, past thousands of islands, and deep into dramatic fjords shaped by the last Ice Age. Battling relentless tides, unpredictable currents, and extreme weather, the row will demand unwavering endurance, teamwork, and resilience.
Unlike a race, this journey is about immersion, not speed. Our team will live off the grid - catching our own food, connecting with local communities, and staying mindful of our environmental impact as we travel through some of the most pristine and challenging waters in Europe.
This is more than just a physical feat. It’s an exploration of Norway’s wild beauty, a test of human spirit, and a call to protect the oceans we rely on.
Why we row - Fuel for the journey.
This journey is about far more than rowing a boat. It’s about pushing personal boundaries, embracing the unknown, and reconnecting with nature in its rawest form - all while doing it alongside a group of like-minded individuals who share the same drive and vision. For me, this is the adventure of a lifetime. And there was never really a question of why, only why not?
A few years ago, I was listening to the Noob Spearo Podcast when I heard Glynn from Per Mare Adventures talk about his experience with open ocean rowing - how it shaped his life, and how he combined it with free diving, spearfishing, and wild expeditions. His words struck a chord deep within me. Within a week, I’d reached out to Glynn, and we began dreaming up ways to build our own expeditions - ones that immerse us in the ocean, live from the land and sea, and challenge us on every level.
A personal journey -
I’ve faced my share of struggles in school, in everyday life, and with things many people take for granted. But the wild has always been my refuge. Whether above or below the waterline, I’ve found peace, purpose, and clarity in the outdoors.
Over time, my adventures became bigger, more remote, and more demanding - from hunting deep in New Zealand’s Southern Alps without communication for weeks, to freediving and spearfishing in some of the world’s most challenging waters. These experiences have shaped me and given me the tools I need to get through the tough days, the quiet times in between the adventures, the moments stuck in the 9 to 5.
This journey down the coast of Norway is a natural next step - a physical challenge, a personal mission, and a statement of belief.
A bigger message -
This expedition is also about showing what’s possible. I’m someone who struggled to read and write at school, someone who couldn’t sit still for five minutes in a classroom. Yet here I am, planning an expedition to row the length of Norway and share everything I learn along the way.
I want this journey to inspire others, even if it's just one person, to chase the things that make them feel alive, to see how much strength they have inside them, and to reconnect with the wild places that can teach us so much.
The best way to understand an environment is to live in it - fully, humbly, and without shortcuts. That’s what this expedition is all about. We’ll be exposed to the elements, living from the sea where we can, meeting the people who call this coastline home, and treading lightly as we go.
After more than two years of planning, the first expedition The Nordic Endeavour is finally coming to life. And we couldn’t be more ready.

Our Aim
This expedition isn’t just about rowing - it’s about discovery, contribution, and responsibility. As a team of four - two Norwegians and two international adventurers - we’re setting out to explore the full length of Norway’s wild coastline. But more than just experiencing it, we aim to document, protect, and give back to the environment we’ll be living in.
We want to see Norway’s coastline in its full complexity - the awe-inspiring and the alarming. From flourishing marine ecosystems to areas affected by human impact, we’ll be gathering data, taking samples, and recording what we find along the way. We’ll be working alongside local scientists and organisations to help better understand the current state of these waters and share that insight with the wider world.
As part of our daily routine, we’ll be collecting water samples, noting wildlife sightings, and recording changes in the marine environment. By contributing to marine research, we hope to play a small role in the bigger picture, raising awareness of the urgent need to protect our oceans and supporting those already working to do so.
Freediving and spearfishing will also play a key part in our journey. Not just as a way to source our own food, but as a way to show what sustainable harvesting from the sea really looks like. We'll demonstrate that it’s possible to live from the ocean without depleting it - choosing methods that are selective, respectful, and deeply connected to the natural world.
We’ll also be meeting with local communities along the way, learning about traditional fishing techniques and the rich cultural history that ties people to these waters. This is about more than surviving at sea - it’s about understanding the environment and the people who call it home.
Sadly, not everything we’ll see on this journey will be pristine. Rubbish and marine waste are a reality even in some of the most remote areas. That’s why we’ll also be teaming up with environmental groups to help clean up wherever we can - removing waste, sharing what we find, and leaving each place better than we found it.
From Start to finish
An extraordinary journey deep into the Arctic Circle, the Northern Border expedition takes you across some of the most remote and challenging waters on Earth. Rowing through the icy expanse of the Barents Sea, navigating the powerful currents of the Norwegian Sea, and pushing through the choppy stretches of the North Sea and Skagerrak, this route spans nearly 3,000 kilometers of raw, untamed ocean.
Beginning in the far north of Norway, the expedition traces the nation's rugged coastline, venturing through isolated fjords and exposed offshore passages. As we row southward, they cross the Southern border with Sweden, marking a symbolic transition from the Arctic wilderness to the Scandinavian heartland. The journey concludes in the historic and vibrant city of Oslo, having tested the limits of endurance, navigation, and human resilience.
The WOODVALE 4 is a purpose-built ocean rowing vessel, originally constructed in 2005 for the renowned Woodvale Atlantic Challenge—one of the toughest endurance races in the world.
Designed to accommodate 4 crew members, the boat features 2 rowing positions that operate in shifts, enabling round-the-clock progress across vast open waters. Built for both performance and resilience, this Concept Class boat embodies the spirit of traditional ocean rowing while delivering proven offshore capability.
